Each year, the Pro Humanitate Institute partners with HandsOn NWNC to put on the Nonprofit Essentials Workshop Series. The series is intended for current and prospective nonprofit professionals. Participants may participate in the entire program or in individual workshops.
Nonprofit Essentials is a series of ten skill building courses designed to strengthen the capacity of students and professionals pursuing careers in the nonprofit sector or those interested in updating their knowledge and skills. Classes are open to the community. Nonprofit board members, staff and volunteers are encouraged to attend. Classes cover a range of topics essential to the governance and management of nonprofits, and are taught primarily by Wake Forest faculty, administrators and alum.
Past workshops have included: advocacy & communication; budgeting & finance; collaboration; cultural competence; evaluation; fund development; governance; grant writing; human resources; and strategic planning.
Dates & Locations
Participants attend class once a month from September to June of the following year. All classes will be held at 751 Fourth Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Please check HandsOnNWNC.org for specific class dates and locations. Time: All classes are from 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm and include a networking lunch.
$60/person/class; $50/person/class for HandsOn NWNC Supporting Partners. Register for all 10 classes and receive one free ($550/person non-Supporting Partners & $450/person Supporting Partners). This is a good option for organizations that have employees who could benefit from different courses. You can begin taking courses at any time during the series and make-up missed ones when they are offered the following year. Registration is required.
