Winston-Salem community invited to participate in seventh annual

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Read-In on January 14, 2017

Winston-Salem, NC (DATE) – Area residents with children ages 4-10 are cordially invited to attend the seventh annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Read-In. The event will be held at Wake Forest University in Benson University Center, Room 401, on Saturday, January 14th from 9:00am-12:30pm. The event is free and open to the public. Transportation is not provided.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Read-In promotes Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of service, literacy, and community service to children ages 4-10. Each participant will be paired with a reading buddy, who will serve as their guide as they visit various activity stations, including; healthy eating, sustainability in our global community, and women in the Civil Rights Movement. Each participant will also be given at least one donated age-appropriate book and one new civil-rights-themed book.

Parents and guardians are requested to fill out the following online or paper-based forms.

The event is being organized by Girl Talk Triad Chapter, HandsOn Northwest North Carolina, Salem College, UNC School of the Arts, Wake Forest University, and Winston-Salem State University.
